Therapeutic Eurythmy

Therapeutic Eurythmy

Therapeutic Eurythmy is designed to be a vital component of Anthroposophical Medicine. It can play an important role on the path of healing which this approach to medicine provides. Rudolf Steiner taught that illness is an opportunity for growth, for becoming and for the attainment of deeper understanding of biography, both for the individual and for society. Therapeutic Eurythmy provides a conscious activity and willfull  participation by the person who practices it. This participation heightens the whole process of finding what is needed to regain balance and health. For many, it becomes an essential element and a life long source of inner strength and well being. No talent for dance or movement is required to benefit from Therapeutic Eurythmy. The exercises are taught so that the participant gains familiarity with gestures and movements. In this way, the exercises become an individual process which can be learned and practiced.

During the past 80 years, Therapeutic Eurythmy has been taught world-wide in hospitals and clinics, as well as in private practice. It has been a vital remedial modality in the international Waldorf School movement since 1921. It has also been a proven therapy in the life and education of developmentally handicapped children and adults. Therapeutic Eurythmists have completed six years of training. Diplomas are granted by the Medical Section of the School of Spiritual Science in Dornach Switzerland. Training programs are provided on almost every continent.
